Doing It Right

Dr. Rice teaches other doctors inside and outside his practice. He utilizes his extensive training and experience to treat even the most challenging dental situations. He has been delivering cosmetic, implant, and functional solutions to patients for over 22 years. His commitment to “doing it right” and ability to “handle just about anything” has won him the admiration of patients and other doctors. A big bonus is that Dr. Rice uses his expertise to prevent big problems from ever happening.

Education

Dr. Rice graduated from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. He has also completed advanced training in the treatment of the medically and dentally complex patient, advanced cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, the techniques of oral sedation dentistry for the fearful patient, laser dentistry, risk factor analysis and risk reduction to prevent further dental problems from occurring, and treatment of sleep disorders in dentistry.

Experience

He has been helping patients so they can enjoy eating and smiling again with dental implants since 1988. He has developed special methods of implant and restorative dentistry to “rescue” the denture patient and those with debilitated teeth needing complete reconstructions. For over ten years he has delivered special techniques in oral sedation dentistry for the fearful patient. Most of the time, all treatment can be performed in the same office. This combined with advanced techniques allow even the most compromised individual to return to a life of enjoying dental health.

Live Patient Treatment

Starting back in 1986, Dr. Rice embraced cosmetic dentistry. Patients that received natural beautiful smiles over 20 years ago are still looking great on their maintenance visits without further treatment. In 1999, Dr. Rice performed a “live patient treatment” at the University of Pacific School of Dentistry. While there, he provided Amy (a previous employee and current patient) with eight porcelain veneers. This procedure was observed by 30 other dentists who were learning to perform advanced functional esthetic dentistry in the company of Dr. Bill Dorfman, the cosmetic dentist on the Extreme Team for the television series "Extreme Makeover".

Dentist & Mentor

Currently, Dr. Rice teaches the latest advances in cosmetic, implant and restorative dentistry at the world famous Kois Center in Seattle, Washington. After completing all of the coursework and earning advanced membership at the Kois Center, he was asked to become Mentor. He is the only dentist in Orange County that has been awarded the prestigious title of Mentor at the Kois Center. Dr. Rice began teaching dentistry right out of dental school when he received his teaching credential for the California State Community College system. In 1987, he began teaching as a clinical instructor for the dental hygienist program at Cerritos College.

He was selected as one of “Americas Top Dentists” by the Consumer Research Council of America and he was selected by his peers to be included in Coast Magazine’s 2008, 2009, 2010 edition of “Top Dentists”.

After Dr. Rice and his wife, Beverly, both graduated from USC, they moved straight to Irvine. They have been active with the Irvine Public Schools Foundation, a non-profit foundation that has raised millions for the Irvine Public School System. Beverly was a founding board member.

Dr. Rice has served in multiple leadership positions with the Boy Scouts of America, and is the proud father of an Eagle Scout. He is active in the Smiles for Life campaign in conjunction with St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, and his office raised over $20,000 for children’s charities through that campaign. Dr. Rice is active in his church. He has performed missionary service, taught Sunday School and been responsible for the membership and financial records at his local congregation. Their son, Taylor, is attending Dental School and will graduate in 2013. Their daughter Lauren is attending Architecture school.
