If you are unhappy with the appearance of your smile, cosmetic dentistry can help. From discolored teeth to crooked teeth to missing teeth, cosmetic dentistry has many options to help you. Whether you are looking to achieve the smile of your dreams or restore the smile of your youth, cosmetic dentistry has many options to offer you.
What Can Cosmetic Dentistry Do for You?
Cosmetic dentistry can address almost any complaint you may have about the appearance of your smile. This includes concerns about:
- Discolored teeth
- Chipped or worn teeth
- Small teeth
- Gapped teeth
- Black triangles around teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Missing teeth
With recent advances in cosmetic dentistry, we also usually have more than one solution to your cosmetic concerns. In consultation, we can help you decide among your treatment options.
Options for Discolored Teeth
If your teeth are only slightly discolored, changes in hygiene and daily habits may be enough to whiten them. Cut down on staining beverages like coffee, tea, and cola. Brush twice daily. See your dentist regularly.
Options for Chipped, worn, or small teeth
If you have chipped or worn down teeth, you may want to build them back up to give your smile the proper appearance with relatively tall front teeth, not squat teeth. To lengthen your teeth, we might recommend BioClear veneers, traditional veneers, or dental crowns.
Options for Gapped Teeth
A tooth gap occurs when you have a space that develops between your teeth. Most often, this is developmental–the teeth just don’t come together. There are several ways to close the gaps.
BioClear veneers or other veneers can close them nicely. Orthodontics are also a great choice to achieve a permanent improvement in your smile’s appearance.
Options for Black Triangles
Black triangles, unlike tooth gaps, are usually caused by receding gums that leave spaces between your teeth as they pull back. Orthodontics isn’t usually a good option for treating these spaces because the teeth already contact where they are widest, so they can’t close together any tighter. Instead, BioClear veneers are usually the best option, although sometimes gum rejuvenation is the best choice.
Options for Crooked or Crowded Teeth
If you have crooked or crowded teeth, we can potentially reshape them rather than move them. BioClear or other veneers work well for this. But sometimes the best option is orthodontics. At Rice Dentistry, we offer a full range of orthodontic options, from traditional braces to Invisalign to Six Month Smiles. We even offer Acceledent, which not only speeds treatment, it reduces discomfort.
Options for Missing Teeth
Teeth may become lost to gum disease, cavities, or trauma, and once they’re lost, you typically want a rapid replacement. We offer several good options for replacing one or more missing teeth. Dentures work well and are economical, but many people find their poor function to be unsatisfactory. Dental bridges are fully fixed replacements but have limitations in where you can use them. Dental implants or implant dentures are usually the best tooth-replacement option. They look and function like natural teeth.
