Local dentist, Dr. Scott Rice is helping children in need - one smile at a time. This spring and summer Dr. Scott Rice offered teeth whitening services at a reduced price, and donated 100 percent of the proceeds to help children facing serious health and educational problems.
During the four-month campaign, Dr. Rice raised 6,885.00. Half of the funds raised were contributed to the Irvine Public Schools Foundation for use right here in our community. The other half were contributed to the Garth Brooks' Teammates For Kids Foundation for use in health, education and inner city programs that benefit children. Over the last few years, Dr Rice's office has raised and contributed over 25,000.00 in the Smiles for Life campaign.
"We had a great campaign this year and would like to thank everyone in the community who came out and helped to make it a success by purchasing whitening services during our campaign,~ explains Dr. Rice, "It is the first year that we have partnered with the Irvine Public Schools Foundation, and I hope that this is only the beginning!" "It has been great seeing the beautiful smiles of our patients after performing whitening services - but it is even better to see the smiles on the faces of the children our contributions are helping to support." "It is my hope that we can raise three or four times as much money next year for these foundations."
Accepting the donation for the Irvine Public Schools Foundation are honorary committee chair and city councilmember Sukhee Kang and IPSF Chief Development Officer Jaimee C. Niles who commented, “on behalf of the IPSF Board of Trustees and the over 25,000 IUSD students we serve, we thank Dr. Rice and his staff for this generous donation and ongoing partnership. It is by working together that we can make positive advancements in areas such as health and wellness in our schools.
Each year over a four-month period, participating Crown Council dentists offer professional teeth whitening services at a reduced price and donate the proceeds to children's charities. The Crown Council's Smiles for Life Foundation has raised more than $23 million since 1998, benefiting over 500 children's charities across North America.
